Born in Long Beach, CA, Michael learned to sail in Naples Sabots at age seven at the Long Beach Yacht Club. Through competing in many major events, Michael quickly developed a passion for sailing.  As a teenager, Michael competed in the Governor’s Cup match race, the Coastal Cup offshore sprint, and the Junior Olympics in Collegiate Flying Juniors.  

Currently Michael sails in the most competitive one-design keel boat classes, with the goal of winning a World Championship.  He has sailed with World Championship teams, placed first at the Big Boat Series events in 2007 and 2005, and set a new time record in the Coastal Cup and Newport to Ensenada race in 2002.

Michael is now using his wealth of experience to embark on an Olympic Laser campaign. The Laser is one of the newest Olympic classes and the largest youth and adult one-design class in the world.  It is a challenging boat that requires athleticism, subtle steering and trimming techniques, and tactical excellence.  Through this campaign, Michael will have the ability to take his sailing to the next level and looks to further grow his future in sailing.
